Introduction
NVIDIA‘s brand new RTX 4060 Ti graphics card is finally here. After a stealth announcement on the 18th of May, a few days has passed and we’ve reached the official release day. So far the 4060 Ti looks to be pretty promising in terms of performance. This card is geared more towards 1080p based on the price and the specs, but we’ve put this card to the test at 1440p as well, and this card has some excellent legs at a 2K resolution.
The 4060 Ti looks to be a pretty well-rounded card, and we’re hoping that NVIDIA is slowly moving towards normal pricing, with this launch being a clear indicator, and hopefully AMD will go in the same direction. But we’re not here to talk about Team Red, we’re here to fill you in on all of the awesome 4060 Ti options that just released on the market.
We’ve rounded up the best options from a variety of manufacturers geared towards those on a budget, or towards consumers that want something a little bit more high-end. Without further ado, here are all of the best RTX 4060 Ti 8GB cards that you can pick up right now!

Our Recommendations
1. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Founders Edition
👑 The best budget RTX 4060 Ti.

Introduction
Starting off our roundup in typical GeekaWhat fashion is the RTX 4060 Ti Founders Edition. We always tend to pick the Founders SKUs as the cheapest option, because they are one of the few cards that actually remain at the advertised MSRP. NVIDIA manufactures the Founders Edition cards as a reference point of performance, and then AIB partners take this card and put on their own shrouds, add better cooling, and sometimes even a slight overclock. Whilst these AIBs on paper are better, they are also much more expensive by comparison. Which is why the Founders Edition card is the best option for the price conscious buyer.
This particular Founders Edition is one of the smallest that we’ve seen in a while, coming in at 250mm. This will open up some options for consumers looking to pick up a new GPU, but have a smaller case. You won’t need to worry about clearance issues with the Founders model, which is great. Cooling is also pretty solid, although it doesn’t quite match up to the behemoth coolers that we saw with the RTX 4080 and 4090 SKUs, the 4060 Ti is still pretty solid. In even some of the most demanding games we didn’t see temperatures surpass the 65 degrees mark, which is pretty cool.

Things We Like
One of the cheapest options: The Founders Edition card is one of the best options if you’re being price conscious about your purchases. This card will be available for MSRP and will only go down in price as time goes on.
Solid cooling performance: The Founders Edition SKUs are actually pretty solid when it comes to cooling. This card was able to maintain an average temperature of around 49 degrees even in some of the more intense games.
Things We Don’t Like
Only 8GB of VRAM: This applies to all of the cards but we’ll only cover it here. The 8GB of VRAM isn’t great, although NVIDIA are releasing a 16GB model later down the line, I feel most consumers will look for alternatives rather than spending $500. In terms of longevity for gaming 8GB is not good, and we were expecting better.
Not good for Ray-Tracing: All of the current NVIDIA cards, including the RTX 4070 have been pretty at Ray-Tracing, but unfortunately, the 4060 Ti does not follow suit. If you’re looking for improved visual fidelity with Ray-Tracing, you’ll want to pick up a better card.
Summary
NVIDIA’s 4060 Ti is the most competitive card of this particular SKU and is the most likely one to sell out the quickest. It is very thermally capable, isn’t ridiculously sized, and performs very well. We do think the 4060 Ti should have more VRAM, but this isn’t necessarily a problem with the Founders card as much as it is NVIDIA making poor choices. Regardless, if you’re looking for the cheapest option, the Founders Edition is a great choice.

2. MSI RTX 4060 Ti Gaming X Trio
👑 The best performing 4060 Ti.

Introduction
Next up is MSI‘s Gaming Trio variant of the RTX 4060 Ti. MSI has been a mainstay in the graphics card space for a while, and we’re always excited to test out their new AIBs for the latest cards. The Gaming Trio is one of my favourite lines that they offer, with each card sporting three fans, which will aid cooling thermals, and some minimalist RGB in the form of a few strips that go diagonally across the card.
MSI always do an excellent job on the aesthetic of their cards. Even the cheaper options such as the Ventus line, look great, and the Gaming Trio is definitely not an exception when it comes to a masterful design. I’m a huge fan of the RGB, it isn’t too overboard, but still offers some nice customisation for those that like to play around with lighting and colours. MSI also do a great job when it comes to cooling too. The Gaming Trio features their signature FROZR 3 thermal design which should keep temperatures nice and low, alongside quieter noise levels.

3. Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4060 Ti
👑 The best thermally capable RTX 4060 Ti.

Introduction
For our third selection, we’ve picked out Gigabyte‘s Gaming OC variant of the RTX 4060 Ti. Gigabyte has always impressed us when it comes to their AIB cards, especially with the OC variants. We’ve always been a big fan of the design of these cards. Gigabyte provide an industrial style shroud that features three fans, perfect for keeping your GPU nice and cool, whilst adding to the overall airflow of the system.
This particular OC model offers a nice overclock to the boost speed. Whilst this won’t offer insane levels of performance bonuses, consumers will see some extra frames in some of their favourite titles. Normally the increased boost clock speed would incur a massive surge in cost as well, but Gigabyte are offering this card up for a price tag very close to MSRP. This means you can secure this model for a pretty reasonable price, and gain some nice bonuses in terms of cooling and performance that can be worth the extra cost.

A solid overclock: The 4060 Ti Gaming OC offers a small overclock on the boost speed. Whilst this won’t insanely boost performance, consumers can expect some more frames here and there in some games.
Reasonably priced: This particular model comes in very close to MSRP. If you’re looking for a 4060 Ti that offers improved cooling and performance at an exceptional price point. Definitely worth considering if you’re making price conscious purchases.
Things We Don’t Like
Doesn’t offer much RGB: Unfortunately, if you’re the kind of consumer that loves lighting and RGB in your shiny new PC, this card won’t be a great choice. The Gaming OC 4060 Ti only offers an RGB logo on the top of the card, which I’d say is rather disappointing.
Not the smallest card: Although this GPU doesn’t quite match up to the size of the MSI Gaming X Trio variant, this card is a fair bit bigger than the Founders Edition model. If you’ve picked up a smaller case you’ll want to be aware of clearance, to ensure that you don’t have any installation issues.
Summary
Gigabyte‘s Gaming OC RTX 4060 Ti is a very reasonably priced variant that offers a slight performance improvement, and stronger thermals contrasting to the Founders Edition model. Whilst this is at the cost of case clearance and a slightly higher price point. I’d argue this card is definitely worth considering, as it is one of the best value AIB options on the market for an OC card.

4. Zotac Twin Edge OC Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse RTX 4060 Ti
👑 The best looking RTX 4060 Ti.

Introduction
For our final selection we’ve picked out the Spider Man edition of the Zotac Twin Edge OC 4060 Ti. Although this particular model doesn’t have a very catchy name, the unique and sleek design definitely caught our attention. We’re a big fan of the Spider Man edition of the new RTX 4000 series cards, as they offer some unique flair that isn’t often found with other GPUs. We’re so used to the typical industrial look found on most graphics cards, so this model is a refreshing change to a very common look.
Aside from the design, the Zotac Twin Edge OC 4060 Ti is a dual-fan card utilising Zotac’s IceStorm 2.0 cooling, which should aid with thermals. Although the dual-fans could hinder this to a degree. Zotac have offered a slight overclock to the boost speed, which can improve framerates in certain games, but only by a small amount. This card is also a very small model as well, coming in at 225mm in length which shouldn’t restrict case choices.

Things We Like
Unique aesthetic: The Spider-Man edition of the Zotac Twin Edge offers an awesome and unique design that isn’t likely to be found on other cards. Zotac have also provided the option of switching back to the normal aesthetic if you’re not a huge fan of the alternate design.
Reasonably sized: The Zotac TwinEdge is one of the smallest AIBs that you can pick up. If you’ve picked up a smaller case, this GPU won’t restrict your choices or cause any major clearance issues.
Things We Don’t Like
Spider-Man design is a magnetic backplate: Although the design is pretty cool, we were disappointed to see that this is just a magnetic backplate. I’m a big fan of the actual art, but I feel Zotac could have put the effort in to actually etch or laser the design onto the backplate as opposed to providing a cheap alternative.
Quite pricey: As you can imagine, the fancy design option incurs a significant price hike, and you’d be correct. Although this isn’t the most expensive card, if you’re on a budget, we would steer clear of this card.
Summary
Zotac’s Spider-Man TwinEdge RTX 4060 Ti is a uniquely designed card that offers a refreshing aesthetic for a build. Whilst this card is quite expensive and the design does feel cheaply integrated, it is worth a consideration if you’re looking for a GPU that will standout versus the competition.

Is the RTX 4060 Ti Any Good?
As with any graphics card or component launch, the major question consumers often ask is, does it perform well? At the end of the day, if a graphics card doesn’t perform as expected and comes in at an unreasonable price, it isn’t likely that card will be well received by media or consumers. So how does the RTX 4060 Ti stack up to the competition and versus other graphics cards that we’ve taken a look at in the past? In this instance we’ll let the graphs below provide some context when it comes to performance metrics.

Hogwarts Legacy
In Hogwarts Legacy at 1080p High settings, we were pretty happy with performance metrics. The RTX 4060 Ti compares very well against graphics cards that align similarly when it comes to specs. The 4060 Ti was able to outperform AMD‘s RX 6750 XT which is also a very strong performer in 1080p and 1440p benchmarks. Hogwarts Legacy can be a pretty demanding title, so it was great to see that the 4060 Ti could keep up in this modern game.

Spider-Man Miles Morales
In Spider-Man Miles Morales, we bumped the resolution up to 1440p to see where performance would lie when improved visual fidelity was thrown into the mix. For the most part, the RTX 4060 Ti held up very well. It seems that this card compares pretty well to an RTX 3070, with the 4060 Ti offering up an average framerate 114FPS which is quite strong. DLSS pushes framerates even further, with the 4060 Ti surging up to 127 with DLSS 3 enabled. Again, we were super happy here, and it is clear that the 4060 Ti is a strong performer at 1440p as well as 1080p.

Apex Legends
And finally, in Apex Legends at 1080p we saw extremely strong performance from the RTX 4060 Ti. This GPU was able to output around 195FPS on average which is very high. Consumers that have displays with high refresh rates will be able to enjoy buttery smooth gameplay with minimal dips and stutters. Apex Legends will benefit from solid refresh rates, giving you more of an edge against the competition.

Do I Need to Worry About Case Clearance?
Case clearance has been a massive issue for the RTX 4000 series of cards, due to the GPUs being absolutely massive. The RTX 4070 Ti, 4080, and 4090 are some of the biggest cards that we’ve ever seen. A multitude of the AIBs were coming in at 350mm or 360mm in length which covers the clearance of some smaller cases. This means that there were a mass of consumers that were effectively forced to pick up a larger case in order to support the size of their GPU without any airflow or clearance problems.

However, as we started to move further down the list, the RTX 4070 started to wander back to normality with the Founders Edition sitting at 250mm out of the box, which is more what we’d expect to see. This has meant consumers have a better set of choices when it comes to cases, and users won’t have to spend a fortune to secure a good option that will support their GPU. And fortunately the RTX 4060 Ti is following suit, but this card is even smaller. The 4060 Ti sits around 200m with the Founders Edition card, and the rest of the options range from 250mm up to 300mm.
Obviously if you’ve got a smaller case, a card like the MSI Gaming X Trio won’t be a good option to pick up, so we’d recommend steering clear. However, many of the other variants sit at reasonable sizes, such as Zotac‘s TwinEdge, or the Gigabyte Gaming OC. Over time, more manufacturers like Gainward and PNY will also have other options available that are likely to be a reasonable size. Needless to say, the RTX 4060 Ti isn’t gigantic this time, so you shouldn’t really need to worry about clearance or any installation issues in your case.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much VRAM Do I Need for Gaming?
As a general rule of thumb, most games won’t need more than 8GB of VRAM for games. However, over the next couple years, it is quite likely we’ll see demands for 10GB and 12GB as games become more intensive.

Is 1440p or 1080p Better for the RTX 4060 Ti?
Either of these resolutions are a great bet. 1080p will always perform better on this GPU because the performance overhead is much lower, but the 4060 Ti is a strong competitor when it comes to 1440p gaming.

Should I Use DLSS?
You don’t have to, but we recommend it where possible. DLSS can massively improve performance at higher resolutions, with a relatively low visual fidelity cost. However, there are certain titles where DLSS may cause latency, so this is entirely your preference.

Can the RTX 4060 Ti Handle Ray-Tracing?
Unfortunately not. The 4060 Ti has a relatively low RT core count, and because of the performance overhead, this card isn’t really designed for Ray-Tracing. We’d recommend looking at alternative options if you plan on playing Ray-Traced games.
