Best 4060 Ti GPUs

The NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti 8GB is a card for 1080p and 1440p gaming. It offers decent performance in leading AAA titles and considerably stronger framerates in Esports games, making it a GPU worth considering. However, with any graphics card range, settling on the best value option can be challenging due to the sheer number of cards available on the market. That’s why we’ve decided to test a massive range of RTX 4060 8GB graphics cards to determine the best cards to buy.

This buyers guide provides in-depth coverage on the best RTX 4060 graphics cards to buy. We delve into each GPU’s specs, performance, and pricing to determine which offers the most substantial value.

Our Top Pick: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Founders Edition

NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti Founders Resized

After testing a number of different RTX 4060 Ti graphics cards, the most standout option is the NVIDIA Founders Edition. The main reason why this GPU stands out as the best RTX 4060 Ti option comes down to its pricing. Available at MSRP, the Founders Edition RTX 4060 Ti is a solid GPU for those looking to ensure they secure the best value card.

The Best RTX 4060 Ti 8GB Graphics Cards

1. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Founders Edition

NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti Founders Resized

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8GB Founders Edition serves as a performance reference point. This card has a baseline set of specs that partnered manufacturers take. They then put on their own shroud for better cooling and sometimes add a slight overclock to the boost speed. Whilst these alternative GPUs on paper are better, they are also more expensive by comparison. This is why the Founders Edition card is the best option for those who are price-conscious.

While the Founders Edition RTX 4060 Ti 8GB is the superior option, its downfall lies in the card’s simplicity. There isn’t much here regarding aesthetics, and the black and silver shroud is relatively minimalistic, so it isn’t the best-looking card we’ve seen. But despite this, those looking to pick up the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB with the best value proposition should consider the Founders Edition, based on its lower price point than the rest of the market.

2. MSI RTX 4060 Ti Gaming X Trio

MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 4060 Ti 8GB Resized

The MSI Gaming X Trio variant of the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB is one of the more popular options based on its triple-fan and familiar but sleek design, which we’re always excited to see. The Gaming Trio is one of our favourite lines that MSI offers. This card sports three fans, which aids thermals, and some minimalist RGB in the form of a few strips that go diagonally across the card.

MSI always does an excellent job with their cards’ aesthetics. Even the cheaper options, such as the Ventus line, look great, and the Gaming Trio is definitely not an exception when it comes to masterful design. I’m a massive fan of the RGB. It isn’t too overboard but offers some nice customisation for those who like to play around with lighting and colours.

Unfortunately, this AIB comes with a rather hefty price tag. The RTX 4060 Ti 8GB isn’t the most robust card regarding market positioning, so seeing a $50 bump above MSRP isn’t ideal. But if you’re willing to forgive the leap in price, the Gaming X Trio RTX 4060 Ti 8GB does offer some excellent aesthetics while ensuring that your card stays cool even when under load.

3. Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4060 Ti

Gigabyte’s Gaming OC variants have always impressed us, and the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB has delivered. We’ve always been big fans of the design of these cards. Gigabyte provides an industrial-style shroud that features three fans, perfect for keeping your GPU nice and cool while adding to the system’s overall airflow.

This particular OC model offers a nice overclock to the boost speed. Whilst this won’t offer insane performance bonuses, it provides extra frames in certain games. Usually, the increased boost clock speed would incur a considerable cost surge, but Gigabyte is offering this card up for a price tag very close to MSRP.

While Gigabyte’s Gaming OC model is a compelling choice, the Eagle variant of the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB can be found for a bit cheaper. We urge most prospective buyers to consider this option above the Gaming OC version to save money on this GPU.

4. Zotac Twin Edge OC Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse RTX 4060 Ti

Zotac TwinEdge OC RTX 4060 Ti Spider-Man Edition Resized

The final RTX 4060 Ti 8GB in this roundup is the Spider-Man edition of the Zotac Twin Edge OC. Although this model doesn’t have a catchy name, its unique and sleek design caught our attention. We’re big fans of the Spider-Man edition of the new RTX 4000 series cards, as they offer some unique flair that isn’t often found with other GPUs. We’re so used to the typical industrial look found on most graphics cards, so this model is a refreshing change to a standard look.

Aside from the design, the Zotac Twin Edge OC 4060 Ti is a dual-fan card utilising Zotac’s IceStorm 2.0 cooling, which aids thermals. However, the dual fans could hinder this to a degree. Zotac has offered a slight overclock to the boost speed, which can improve framerates in certain games, but only by a small amount. This card is also a very small model, coming in at 225mm long, which won’t restrict case choices.

Although I like the Spider-Man design, Zotac could have gone the extra mile to engrave the design on the backplate, given the price of this graphics card. You get extra customisability because the plate is magnetised, but it just feels cheap. I’d argue that this card is a decent GPU, but the price is a turn-off if you’re looking for the best-value option.

How We Tested the Best RTX 4060 Ti Graphics Cards

To determine which RTX 4060 Ti 8GB is the best graphics card, our in-house benchmarker, Harry Coleman, has tested all of these GPUs. This involves putting them through a plethora of gaming benchmarks in the latest and greatest AAA titles, along with Esports games. We do this while comparing them against NVIDIA and AMD’s newer and older GPU ranges to see how they fare in the current market.

Hogwarts Legacy

Settings: 1080p, Effects High, Material High, Fog High, Sky High, Foliage High, Post Process High, Shadows High, Textures High, View Distance High, Population High, Anti Aliasing TAA High, Windowed Fullscreen

We were pretty happy with the performance metrics in Hogwarts Legacy at 1080p high settings. The RTX 4060 Ti compares very well against graphics cards offering 100FPS on average. The 4060 Ti outperformed AMD’s RX 6750 XT, which is also a strong performer in 1080p and 1440p benchmarks. Hogwarts Legacy can be a demanding title, so seeing that the 4060 Ti could keep up in this modern game was great.

Starfield

Settings: 1440p, Shadow Quality High, Indirect Lighting High, Reflections High, Crowd Density High, Particle Quality High, Volumetric Lighting High, Motion Blur off, GTAO Quality High, Grass Quality High, Contact Shadows High VSync Off, DLSS/FSR OFF

In Starfield, we bumped the resolution up to 1440p and dialled the settings to high. In this title, the RTX 4060 Ti 8GB offered around 69FPS on average, putting it slightly below the RX 6700 XT but above the RTX 4060. Ultimately, 8GB at 1440p isn’t ideal, especially in harder titles to run like Starfield. However, it’s still holding its own in this benchmark, and 69FPS is more than playable.

Apex Legends

Settings: 1080p, Anti-aliasing TSAA, Texture Filtering 8X, Model Detail High, VSync Disabled, Effects High, Ambient Occlusion Quality High

And finally, in Apex Legends at 1080p we saw extremely strong performance from the RTX 4060 Ti. This GPU was able to output around 195FPS on average which is very high. Consumers that have displays with high refresh rates will be able to enjoy buttery smooth gameplay with minimal dips and stutters. Apex Legends will benefit from solid refresh rates, giving you more of an edge against the competition.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much VRAM Do I Need for Gaming?

Generally, we recommend 12GB for 1440p, and 4K typically needs 16GB of VRAM or more.

Should I Use DLSS?

DLSS 3.5 is excellent, significantly bolstering framerates in titles where it’s available, and should be used when possible.

Can the RTX 4060 Ti Handle Ray Tracing?

To a degree, but its limited number of RT cores compared to stronger RTX cards does mean performance is slightly prohibitive.
