If you’re a frequent reader of our reviews on the GeekaWhat website, you might remember that we’ve already reviewed the ThunderX3 SOLO 360. In this article, we are revisiting the ThunderX3 SOLO 360 gaming chair, this time in a different style variation, specifically the Loft Air style in Dark Grey.
It can often be difficult to make a decision based on style alone, especially when you take into account other factors like comfort and adjustability. It’s helpful to know whether differences in the materials also affect the seating experience, which is where we come in: we outline the differences between the Loft Air and Modern styles of the ThunderX3 SOLO 360. If you’d like to check out a more in-depth breakdown of our thoughts on the ‘Modern’ version of this gaming chair, there is a little review snippet with a link to the article below.
This ThunderX3 SOLO 360 is an ergonomic gaming chair which shares the same features as the other SOLO 360, such as the 360° rotating armrests, SYNC4 synchronous tilt, and the UK model actually debuts the backpocket, which was omitted on the Modern style for fire safety precautions. Both chairs are positioned as being the most affordable gaming chairs with this SYNC4 synchronous tilt adjustment mechanism, but on a wider scale, the pricing is more competitive.

The seat can be raised from 45cm to 53cm above the floor. It has a width of 53cm, a depth of 48cm, and a material thickness of 12cm, providing plenty of cushioning. The SOLO 360’s backrest also has a width of 53cm, and a length that can be extended from 86cm to 92cm when the headrest is adjusted.

Lastly, the chair comes with five omnidirectional TX3 nylon Casters, designed by ThunderX3 for their chairs, measuring 65mm in diameter. Nylon casters are generally used because they offer low rolling resistance and are typically more durable over the long term.
ThunderX3 SOLO 360 Design
The ThunderX3 SOLO 360 series has truly “got your back,” thanks to its integrated, rigid lumbar support designed to follow the natural curve of your spine. This built‑in structure provides continuous, reliable support during long gaming sessions or extended office hours. While the Loft Air style leans more toward a minimalist, casual, modern aesthetic compared to the more corporate‑friendly Modern variant, it still functions as a posture‑focused chair ideal for anyone who spends more than six hours a day seated.

The Loft Air’s outer material isn’t as soft as cotton, but it uses a specialised, multi‑layered woven fabric engineered for breathability, comfort, and long‑term durability. Its edges are reinforced with a stitched‑in suede‑like trim – an intentional choice that enhances longevity compared to being glued‑on or other alternative methods.

Beneath the upholstery, a reinforced steel frame ensures structural stability and prevents flexing over time. The backrest is padded with moulded foam, which retains its shape far better than cut foam, offering consistent support even after prolonged use. Its ergonomic curvature encourages healthy posture, particularly in the lumbar region, while the luxury headrest, modelled after those found on car seats, features an embroidered ThunderX3 logo for a subtle premium touch.

On the backrest, you’ll find a seatback pocket engineered for convenient, accessible storage, keeping your gaming essentials within arm’s reach. Whether it’s your controller, notebook, snacks, or a spare headset, this clever storage solution ensures you never miss a moment.

The SOLO 360 provides six dimensions (6D) of adjustability, including backrest angle, seat height, armrest rotation, lateral armrest movement, armrest retraction, and headrest positioning. This range of adjustments allows users to fine‑tune the chair to their body and workspace. A synchronous rocking mechanism further enhances comfort by tilting the seat and backrest together, creating a more dynamic sitting experience. The backrest reclines from 90° to 125°, supporting both upright focus and relaxed leaning.

Additional design elements include five omnidirectional TX3 nylon casters for smooth mobility, a wide seat base for added stability, and multiple colourways that balance gaming flair with professional appeal. Altogether, the SOLO 360 stands out as a hybrid chair that blends ergonomic engineering, durability, and visual appeal – staying true to ThunderX3’s mission to create seating that supports you while looking good in any environment.
ThunderX3 SOLO 360 Assembly
In comparison to the other SOLO 360, I had my colleague from our Video Editing team, Steve, build the gaming chair, and his overall feedback on the process was that it was straightforward and easy to build. This experience echoes my own feedback in the previous review, which is a standout indication of how streamlined the process is for putting this chair together.
Upon opening the chair’s parcel, you are greeted with an intuitively packed, disassembled chair. Each part has its own packaging, composed of a mix of plastic, bubble wrap, and cardboard inserts, to keep it safe and protected from damage during shipment while also helping keep the parcel’s footprint down. It’s worth noting that some parts are deceivingly heavy, such as the SYNC4 Multi‑Functional Mechanism, so it’s essential to remove all parts with care and ensure they are fastened appropriately.

After most parts have been removed from the parcel, a box containing the assembly manual and the screw set required to fasten all the parts together remains. The screws come in a multi-compartmented package and are labelled to correspond to the manual’s instructions, helping to alleviate any future confusion. In the accessories box, there is also an Allen key or a Hex key, if you will – a thoughtful inclusion as not everyone has tools readily available.

The chair assembly starts with the seat base, where you attach the armrests, then the SYNC4 Multi-Functional Mechanism, and finally the spine piece. Attention then shifts to the base and wheels, which are assembled before the gas lift is slotted into place; the seat structure rests directly on the gas lift. For the backrest, slide it into the spine piece and fasten it using screws. To finish, the headrest slots into the two designated car-seat style holes.
Previously, I noted that the Allen key provided in the toolkit feels thin and fiddly. Steve also grabbed a sturdier hex-headed tool to complete the assembly.
ThunderX3 SOLO 360 Comfort
I’ve had hands-on seating experience with both SOLO 360 gaming chairs since December 2025, for about 4 months total, as of late March 2026 at the time of writing this. Curiously, the Loft Air model is by far much more comfortable than the Modern style. To theorise a reason as to why: there may be more room for material stretch with the leatherette variant compared to the tightly woven fabric this chair uses, which could offer firmer seating and better support, specifically where your lower body contacts the seat. This time, the padding feels cushioning, even for those on the heavier side, and the compression doesn’t feel as substantial. It’s fair to say that lighter users may not find this chair as supportive, as the cushioning might not mould to their bodies as well.

With the addition of ThunderX3’s SYNC4 Multi‑Functional Mechanism, particularly its Synchronous Tilt feature, comfort is further enhanced. As your centre of mass shifts during movement, pressure on the lower body is reduced, creating a more balanced and supportive seating experience. The real strength of this chair, yet again, is the ability to alter your weight distribution throughout long sessions, reducing strain on both the lower body and the back.
Features We Like
Doesn’t Stick To Your Skin

If you’ve ever worn shorts or a skirt in warmer months, you will know the uncomfortable feeling of peeling yourself out of a leather or leatherette seat. This one doesn’t cling to your skin in the warmer months. The breathable fabric allows enough airflow to keep you comfortable and fresh, even during long periods of sitting.
Retractable and Adjustable Armrests
The SOLO 360 features 3D x 360° armrests that rotate a full 360°, allowing you to somewhat position them as needed. They can also retract, letting you pull the chair closer to your desk than you would without this feature, and swivel laterally to provide extra forearm support, which reduces fatigue during long gaming sessions with a keyboard and mouse. The functionality of this feature itself is great.
The Back Pocket Is Present

The materials in this chair met the requirements for resistance to cigarette burns and match ignition, which means this chair actually arrives with this feature in the United Kingdom. This is great, as it’s one of the chair’s key selling points.
Backrest and Lumbar Support

The backrest padding uses fully moulded foam, designed to retain its shape even after heavy use. The ThunderX3 SOLO 360 Gaming Chair is precision‑moulded with ergonomic contours that balance support and style. The lumbar section is curved to promote and encourage a natural S‑shaped posture, helping your back rest comfortably rather than slipping into stress‑induced positions.
Features We Don’t Like
Cumbersome Armrests

After using two variations of this chair for over 4 months combined, I can now say I really do not like the armrest design. The armrests are long, thick and bulky. It is beneficial to have the freedom to rotate and position them as needed, but I’m realising that the rests do not lower enough. To take full advantage of the lumbar support, I like to sit upright and pull myself in under the desk, but the armrests align perfectly with the standard desk height, so I cannot pull myself in fully, even with the armrests rotated horizontally. This is frustrating and contributes to an uncomfortable sitting experience, which just means I’m slouched to see my monitor better.
TX3 65mm Nylon Casters
The caster type is a critical detail, but in this case, it’s not a positive one. Nylon casters are prone to leaving scratch marks on wood or polished flooring, which makes them unsuitable for hard surfaces. They also tend to generate more noise compared to softer alternatives, which can be distracting in a quiet workspace. While they are more durable than rubber casters, that durability comes at the expense of floor protection and acoustic comfort. In practice, these casters are only really suited to low‑pile carpet, limiting their versatility.

Conclusion
Overall Score
3.8 / 5
A more comfortable and supportive SOLO 360 variant with a few design compromises.
ThunderX3 SOLO 360 Gaming Chair Review Verdict
While the ThunderX3 SOLO 360 Gaming Chair in the Loft Air model outperforms the Modern style in overall comfort and support, it falls short in long-term design practicality. The armrests, in particular, are a weak point; their bulk and limited adjustability make them less accommodating than they should be, and a slimmer profile or a greater height range would significantly improve usability.
That said, this model is undeniably more comfortable and supportive, making it a wiser choice for heavier individuals.
The ThunderX3 SOLO 360 Loft Air blends minimalist gaming aesthetics with ergonomic engineering, and in many areas, it succeeds. The reinforced steel frame, breathable fabric, quick assembly, and versatile 6D armrests contribute to a solid, premium build. Its precision-moulded backrest and adjustable headrest promote a natural posture, offering excellent upper and mid-back support throughout extended sessions.
