How to Build The Best RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Gaming PC!

If you’re looking to build a system that can play the latest games at 1440p and 4K settings while sticking to an allocated budget, then it’s important to pick up a powerful graphics card that doesn’t break the bank. Luckily, there are a number of mid-range GPUs targeting excellent 1440p gameplay to choose from, including NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.

Acting as a refreshed version of the original RTX 4070 Ti, this graphics card improves on its predecessor by adding 4GB of VRAM, as well as a bump in CUDA cores. But what parts should you pick alongside the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER to make sure you’re getting the best performance possible from this GPU?

For this build, we’ll be putting together the ultimate RTX 4070 Ti SUPER gaming PC, providing an optimal performance while keeping costs to a minimum. We’ll also share our thoughts on each of the parts, along with a performance breakdown.

Original Review by Aled Wheeler: MSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER VENTUS 3X Review & Benchmarks

MSI’s RTX 4070 Ti SUPER VENTUS 3X is the headline act for this build, bringing plenty of style and performance to the table. With a metallic grey shroud surrounding the fans, this graphics card resembles the designs of older generations such as NVIDIA’s GTX 1000 series, making it a perfect choice for long-time PC gamers looking for a hit of nostalgia.

On top of this, the neutral colour-scheme allows this GPU to slot into both a white or black-theme system without looking out of place. Whilst we’ve opted for a predominantly white aesthetic for this configuration, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER VENTUS 3X also looks great alongside the black motherboard.

SpecificationMSI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER VENTUS 3X
Video Memory16GB GDDR6X
Bus Width256-bit
Base Clock Speed2.34GHz
Boost Clock Speed2.62GHz
CUDA Cores8448
RT Cores66
Tensor Cores264

Power Consumption285W

As for the performance, the triple-fan design is powered by TORX 4.0 FAN technology, which joins two blades for more concentrated airflow, allowing the VENTUS 3X to remain cool at all times. As a result, you can expect this GPU to handle competitive gaming without any issues, even when dialling up the visual quality.

CPU Cooler: MSI MAG CoreLiquid E360 WHITE

MPI_MSI MAG CoreLiquid E360 White

To keep our system cool, we’ve picked out MSI’s MAG CoreLiquid E360 WHITE, an AIO CPU cooler that offers incredible value for money. Despite being packed with a 360mm radiator and three 120mm fans, the E360 is amongst the more affordable liquid CPU coolers on the market.

Because of this, the CoreLiquid E360 WHITE is an excellent choice for our build, as the high-end cooling performance at a budget-friendly price point allows the power-hungry components to run at optimum temperatures while bringing down the overall cost of this system.

SpecificationMSI MAG CoreLiquid E360 WHITE
Max Pump Noise20dB
Pump Speed3000RPM

Motherboard: MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk MAX WiFi

MPI_MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK MAX WiFi

MSI’s MAG Z790 Tomahawk MAX WiFi offers a wide range of connectivity options for gamers looking to build a high-end gaming PC, making it one of the best Z790 motherboards on the market. As this motherboard is designed with Intel’s high-end 14th-Gen CPUs in mind, it makes perfect sense to use it alongside the Core i7-14700K.

Featuring support for up to 192GB of DRR5 memory, as well as Gen5 slots for a graphics card and M.2 SSD, the Z790 Tomahawk MAX WiFi has plenty of connectivity to support the latest flagship components, as well as future releases. On top of this, the ATX form factor allows this design to slot into a range of PC cases with ease.

In terms of connectivity, the rear IO includes multiple high-speed USB-C and USB 3.2 ports, perfect for plugging in top-tier gaming peripherals and accessories. However, the biggest advantage this board has over the competition is the WiFi 7 module, which provides a greater stability for seamless and lag-free online gaming.

For this build in particular, the darker aesthetic on the PCB and heatsinks contrasts with the other components we’ve picked out, which won’t be to everyone’s liking. But for most builds, the black colour-scheme with the bright yellow/green accents will only elevate the overall look.

RAM: Lexar ARES RGB DDR5

MPI_Lexar Ares DDR5 RGB

In order to revert back to the mostly white theme for this build, our memory of choice is Lexar’s Ares RGB DDR5, a RAM kit that offers aggressive overclocking performance in a vibrant package. More specifically, we’ve picked out their 32GB kit that comes with speeds of up to 6400MT/s, as this configuration provides great value for money compared to other options on the market.

The combination of a CL32 latency and 6400MT/s transfer speeds leads to smooth and responsive gameplay in a range of competitive and blockbuster titles, even when a system is being pushed at higher settings. On top of this, the fast speed and lower latency compared to other choices at a similar price point means you’re less likely to experience technical issues and glitches.

As for the aesthetics, the ARES RGB DDR5 includes a strip of RGB lighting across the top of the DIMMs, which can be customised via software to match the rest of your system.

SSD: Corsair MP600 GS

MPI_Corsair MP600 GS 2TB

For the storage solution, we’ve picked out an affordable M.2 Gen4 SSD in the form of Corsair’s MP600 GS, as this will help to reduce costs while having very little impact on gaming performance. Whilst it would have been easy to splash out on a Gen5 SSD, this drive is all that we need to run the latest games with minimal loading times.

Plus, the MP600 GS offers great value for money, with the 2TB version coming in at a price that is lower than most 1TB Gen5 offerings. By prioritising capacity over performance, this build will have no issues holding a large collection of games, even if it’s full of the huge file sizes required for the latest AAA titles.

SpecificationCorsair MP600 GS

Another way this SSD saves on money is by getting rid of the heatsink. Whilst this can have an impact on thermals when the drive is exposed, most motherboards come with a M.2 heatsink attached, which means most PC builders have nothing to worry about.

PSU: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5

MPI_MSI A850GL PCIE5

MSI’s MAG A850GL PCIE5 is one of the best PSUs on the market, especially if you plan on building a system capable of playing games at 1440p. This is mainly due to this 850W PSU offering a range of premium features while sticking to a very affordable price tag.

For example, the A850GL PCIE5 is one of the cheapest 850W power supplies to include ATX 3.0 compatibility, allowing our RTX 4070 Ti SUPER graphics card to be connected via a single 16-pin connector, whilst also offering a more efficient method of power delivery. This increased efficiency is supported further by the 80 Plus Gold rating, ensuring this PSU will remain quiet and cool under intense workloads.
