Components
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D is AMD’s latest gaming-focused CPU. Packed with sixteen cores and thirty-two threads, it makes it a strong performer for multi-core workloads, too. Built on Zen 5 with 128 MB of L3 3D V-Cache, this CPU is specifically designed to excel in gaming and handling cache-based workloads with ease. As part of the current Ryzen 9000 series, it’s well-equipped to handle the demands of upcoming AAA titles for years to come. When paired with our chosen GPU, your PC will be an absolute powerhouse nestled within a ‘sleeper build’ of a PC chassis. NZXT Kraken Elite 360 RGB in white.
The NZXT Kraken Elite 360 RGB brings efficient, low-noise CPU cooling thanks to the NZXT Turbine Pump, while the 2.72-inch IPS LCD and RGB ring offer more ways to personalise your build’s centrepiece. As the PC case we have chosen doesn’t promote flashy visuals, the CPU cooler and RAM are realistically the only components that we can sensibly incorporate a little bit of personality into, and this is because the HAVN BF 360 FLOW does offer a little window into the internals of the case (more about this later).
This 360mm cooler is an all-in-one unit powered by a custom-designed NZXT Turbine pump, delivering a high flow rate and head pressure for powerful yet quiet CPU cooling. It’s ideal for maintaining the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU’s stability under load. What’s more, you’ll benefit from handy personalisation features, such as displaying your favourite GIF or image, tracking real-time system performance, and integrating with Spotify and YouTube using the IPS LCD screen.
Motherboard: NZXT N9 X870E

NZXT N9 X870E in black.
NZXT N9 X870E RGB in white.
We’ve chosen the NZXT N9 X870E motherboard for this build because it perfectly balances cutting-edge performance with a sleek, modern design, making it both an ideal match for our minimalist HAVN case and a solid foundation for any modern gaming PC. Designed specifically with the latest AMD processors in mind, it delivers overclocking-ready power, optimised thermals, and future-proof PCIe 5.0 support. Connectivity is no midpoint here, featuring high-speed WiFi 7, 5Gb LAN, and versatile USB4 ports to keep you prepared for the fastest peripherals and networks.
The motherboard’s full-metal cover, highlighted by subtle RGB lighting, adds a refined touch of sophistication without overpowering the build’s understated aesthetic. It comes in both black and white variants, so if our all-black theme isn’t your preference, the white version offers a stylish alternative.

RAM: Corsair Dominator Titanium

Our PC build contains the Corsair Dominator Titanium RAM kit, where luxury is accentuated by the exceptionally unique feature of swappable top bars with CORSAIR DOMINATOR TITANIUM Fin Accessory Kits. These not only elevate the aesthetic appeal but also provide functional benefits – the fins help dissipate heat away from the memory chips, enhancing performance, longevity and steady temperatures. For this build, we installed the 6000 MT/s kit, which delivers excellent overall system responsiveness. Additionally, Corsair has integrated AMD EXPO for seamless overclocking with AMD CPUs, perfectly complementing our Ryzen 9 9950X3D.
SSD: CORSAIR MP700 PRO SE

For this build, we are using the CORSAIR MP700 PRO SE with a storage capacity of 4TB; this is because it is the best SSD for performance that we’ve seen since our original review of the CORSAIR MP700 PRO SE in May 2024. The MP700 PRO SE has demonstrated outstanding sequential read speeds of up to 14,076 MB/s and write speeds of up to 11,956 MB/s, placing it among the fastest PCIe Gen 5 drives available at the time.
It was only recently that this SSD was surpassed by the Samsung 9100 Pro in 8TB capacity, so if you value super-fast data transfer rates and reliable, strong performance, either of these SSDs is a viable option. For a PC build of this tier, we wouldn’t recommend opting for a storage capacity lower than 4 TB, as it’s likely that you’ll be using this PC for storage-demanding tasks like multimedia creation or gaming. The space that games require can be pretty sizable nowadays, so it’s worth ensuring that you have enough in excess to stop you from being caught lacking.
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 FE

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 FE may prove challenging to purchase, as the FE model is typically only available for retail on the original release date. If it becomes available for purchase again, it tends to sell out quickly. I’m going to recommend the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090 GAMING OC, which retains some of the sleek aesthetic we are aiming for, while also being compatible with our case.
The RTX 5090 is the pinnacle of 4K gaming, boasting the fastest gaming GPU on the market. It offers jaw-dropping features, including AI-enhanced graphics and performance with DLSS 4 and Multiframe generation, as well as full ray tracing with neural rendering. The possibilities are almost endless for the experiences this GPU can produce, especially when paired with an equally powerful processor like the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D. To find out more about why we have chosen to pair the 9950X3D with an RTX 5090, read our recommendation for the Best CPUs for the 5090.

PSU: Corsair RM1000X

Selecting a power supply with adequate wattage and a high efficiency rating is crucial for a stable and efficient build. Given its intrinsically power-hungry nature, the GPU is the primary component we prioritise when determining wattage requirements. The Corsair RM1000X not only meets NVIDIA’s recommended wattage for the RTX 5090 but also carries an 80 PLUS Gold certification, ensuring both reliable power delivery and high energy efficiency for this demanding GPU.
