Introduction
Gamescom 2022 is here! In Cologne, Germany, we get the world renowned Gamescom every year. Brands across the world come to Gamescom to show off new products, and let consumers test out the latest games. With the release of Nvidia’s latest graphics cards on the horizon, and AMD’s latest Ryzen 7000 CPUs, we were expecting to get some new information about these exciting launches.
And boy do we have some info! On Tuesday, ASUS held their ‘Have It All’ event to show off numerous new products including X670E motherboards, PSUs, monitors and more. Today we’re rounding up all of these exciting new entries into the market that featured during Gamescom of 2022.
X670E Motherboards
As part of AMD‘s latest series of CPUs, we’re seeing an upgrade to an entirely new socket, along with the introduction of a brand new chipset. AMD have generally kept to three chipsets since the first generation of Ryzen CPUs. These chipsets were ‘X#70‘, ‘B#50‘, and ‘A#20’. X#70 was the top chipset offering consumers all of the latest features, while B#50 offered more mid-range and budget entries. And A#20 was geared towards the lower, more price conscious end of the market, and prosumer range.
When AMD announced their new Ryzen 7000 CPUs at Computex this year, we were given some information about a new chipset they’ve named ‘X670E’. These motherboards are pointed towards the top-end enthusiast side of the market. Offering consumers a huge range of features, coupled with big leaps in VRM power phases, optimised for overclocking the new and powerful CPUs.
This was a very exciting introduction to AMD’s latest range, and we’ve kept our ear to the ground picking up any information we can about these new motherboards and the kind of features on offer for consumers. We’ll be breaking down all of the features about these motherboards below.

First off is the ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Gene motherboard. From a glance, you can immediately see that this motherboard is on the smaller side. ASUS have opted to give this motherboard a Micro-ATX form factor designed to fit in smaller more compact builds. Visually, this board is stunning. On top of the integrated rear IO shield you’ll see the infamous ‘crosshair’ logo, along with the letters ‘ROG’ (which presumably will light up like a Christmas tree). The board has more of an extended heatsink design, leaving less exposed PCB as a whole.
There’s also a huge heatsink located on the top of the board for VRMs providing great cooling. Overall, this board looks excellent. In terms of specs, the Crosshair X670E Gene is loaded with them. The singular PCI-E x16 slot is the 5th generation, designed to withstand the power of the latest and greatest graphics cards. This board is of course DDR5 only with two DIMM slots overall. There’s also three x4 PCI-E slots, with two of them being Gen5 providing insane bandwidth for when the new PCI-E 5.0 SSDs release. Needless to say, this board is loaded with features and we can expect this to be priced as one of the top-end boards.

ROG STRIX X670E-I Gaming WiFi
The second motherboard shown off at the event was the ROG STRIX X670E-I Gaming WiFi board. Denoted by the ‘I’, this motherboard sports a Mini-ITX form factor. These boards tend to be somewhat more niche being designed for the smallest of builds, but the ROG STRIX X670E-I offers a complete platform crammed with features for your next PC build.
Not too dissimilar from the X670E Gene, this board has an extended heatsink design offering a sleek look with less exposed PCB and with less RGB this time around. In terms of specs, there’s plenty to go around. This board features a PCI-E 5.0 x16 slot for the latest graphics cards along with two x4 slots one of them being PCI-E 5.0 and the other 4.0. One thing that might standout with this board is the raised front panel connectors. ASUS have included their ROG FPS-II card giving you easy access to front panel connectors while also maximising space and features.
This motherboard also includes one of ASUS’ brand new products – the ROG STRIX Hive. This is an external control interface that has an audio codec and DAC rolled into one, allowing audiophiles to connect speaker setups through S/PDIF out. You can also change motherboard gaming features such as PBO for overclocking with the ROG STRIX Hive.

ASUS ProART X670E Creator WiFi
Next up is the ProART Creator motherboard. For those that are unsure what this board is. ASUS also design and manufacture a workstation board, specifically designed for those that need an extra performance boost to do demanding tasks on their PC. I’m a big fan of these boards, as they look awesome. The industrial style design with gold accents is very eye-catching, making these motherboards standout against the competition.
Features wise, this board has a lot. On the GPU front, you’re looking at two (yes, two!) PCI-E 5.0 x16 slots, for those that want to run multiple GPUs. You’ve also got access to four M.2 slots, with two of them being PCI-E 5.0 compatible. The PCI-E 5.0 standard also provides the bandwidth required for USB4, of which there are two located on the rear IO panel. The rest of your IO is loaded up with high speed USB 3.2 ports, along with 2.5 and 10 Gigabit LAN, and WiFi 6E for those preferring a more wireless setup.

ASUS Prime Range
ASUS’ Prime range of motherboards offer consumers plenty of features at different price ranges. These boards are primarily geared towards the budget end of the market, but ASUS has opted to provide three different options for budget, mid-range, and high-end PC builds.
The first that you’ll see in the picture above is the ASUS Prime X670-E Pro WiFi. This board is situated at the enthusiast end of the market with PCI-E 5.0 for your GPU and SSDs, along with WiFi 6E, a Thunderbolt 4 header, and 2.5 Gigabit LAN. The other two boards, the Prime X670-P WiFi, and Prime X670-P both feature three onboard M.2 slots, a Thunderbolt 4 header, and plenty of rear IO across the board.
ROG Loki SFX-L 850W Platinum
The next major product release is an ASUS ROG SFX PSU. SFX PSUs are designed for smaller form factor cases that need a slightly more compact design. This ASUS ROG PSU takes the SFX-L form factor creating an awesome looking PSU with an 80+ Platinum efficiency rating. This PSU is PCI-E 5.0 ready and comes with an included 16 pin cable for PCI-E 5.0 GPUs. The silent RGB fan can also be synced up using Aura Sync to add some lighting effects and colours to your build.

ASUS unveiled a number of new monitors including some OLED designs, and 4K displays. We’ve broken down the features below!
One of the most exciting announcements from their new monitor ranges was the release of their ROG Swift OLED designs. Both of these monitors boast fast IPS OLED displays available in a range of sizes and resolutions. The 42 inch design features 4K visuals at a 138Hz refresh rate for a buttery smooth experience. The OLED panel provides deep blacks and bright whites along with a 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The blazing fast 0.1ms response time ensures no input delay along with unhindered gameplay. The 48 inch design is for those that want to enhance their setup on a bigger scale with a slightly larger display.
Both monitors include a custom heatsink to keep the display at consistently lower operating temperatures. The panels also feature an anti-glare micro-texture coating that reduces reflections, further adding to that unhindered experience. In terms of IO, you’ve also got access to DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1 and 2.0, along with a USB hub and tripod socked on the top of the monitor.
