It’s been a while since we’ve had our hands on some NZXT components for a build – in fact the last time around we only looked at a case, specifically the H100i.
We were impressed at the time, and figured it had been too long since we took a look at some of their components. Enter stage left, the new NZXT N7 B550 motherboard – the perfect opportunity it seems to get back into the NZXT ecosystem!
NZXT are arguably one of the fastest growing brands in the PC hardware space, yet a brand who maintain a seemingly streamlined, premium product stack with mass appeal.
The new NZXT N7 B550 motherboard isn’t NZXT’s first dip into the world of motherboards, though, following a successful Z490 launch a couple of years back.
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
We’ll come back to the NZXT components in this build (very) shortly, but first – the CPU.
The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is the perfect chip for a gaming build in 2021. With 6 cores, 12 threads, and industry leading single-threaded performance, it ticks every box there is to tick. It is more pricey than its 3600X predecessor, but we still think this is the best choice in 2021.
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X63
In terms of the cooler for this build, you probably have a few choices – depending on what you are after. In our recent YouTube video, we evaluated the performance impact that a good cooler has on gaming performance. While you don’t need to spend as much as we have on this NZXT Kraken X63, it is a cool, quiet cooler with fantastic reviews and awesome performance.
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3070 Founders Edition
When it comes to picking a graphics card for your 2021 gaming PC, everything suddenly gets very complicated. A combination of silicon shortages and sky-high GPU demand have lead GPU pricing and availability to become really tricky.
While that doesn’t take away from the superb gaming performance of a card like the Nvidia Founders Edition 3070, it does make building a system much harder than we’d like.
The 3070 is a fantastic GPU, and sits on Nvidia’s latest Ampere GPU architecture. Like the CPU choice for today’s build, it really does tick every single box. It’s got heaps of performance, with support for the latest generations of Ray Tracing and DLSS performance. It positions itself as a true 1440p beast of a GPU, ready for high frame rate gaming in 2021 and beyond. If you can buy one at a reasonable price, it doesn’t get much better.

RAM: Patriot Viper Steel RGB Series – 16GB 3600MHz
For the RAM in today’s build, we’ve actually got our hands on a brand new kit from Patriot. With RGB heat spreaders, 16GB of capacity and a fast 3600MHz speed, this kit is an awesome choice.
Top Tip: Make sure to pick up 2 dimms, rather than just the one, as Ryzen loves dual channel memory!
SSD/Storage: ADATA S20G 1TB M.2 SSD
Storage choices are always unique on a build-by-build basis, but our recommendation for this system is Adata XPG’s fantastic S20G. With a 1TB capacity, RGB heat spreader and fast speeds it looks awesome with the performance to boot!
RGB. a 1TB Capacity. Fast Speeds. What’s not to love with xpg’s s20G?!
Keep scrolling for the rest of the components, but remember: we’ve uploaded a video version of this build below!
Motherboard: NZXT N7 B550 Motherboard
With our core components selected and ready to go, we need a motherboard to mount everything on to. NZXT’s latest B550 motherboard is like nothing else we’ve seen (that is aside from their own N7 B550 board).
The aesthetic is clean, sleek and simple with plastic shielding hiding most of the PCB. The RRP is on the premium side of B550 in our experiences, and slightly better value can be had elsewhere if aesthetics are not a major concern.
Personally, I think this board looks great though, and is a really unique entrant into the B550 motherboard market.
Case: NZXT H510 Elite
We couldn’t have an all NZXT build without picking up one of their chassis, and that is where the H510 Elite comes into play!
Once again it is on the premium end of the spectrum, but
with GLASS panes, a 2 tone aesthetic and a very compact form factor, it looks great!
PSU: NZXT C750 80+ Gold
With most of our components covered off, all that is really left to do is give everything power …and then we’re ready to go! NZXT’s C750 is an 80+ Gold certified, fully modular power supply with a compact form factor and silent fan operation mode.
It’s also not too pricey, especially given the current state of the PSU market which makes a nice change!
Performance & Benchmarking
With our component choices covered off, it’s time to see just how well this NZX, RTX 3070 system stacks up in some gaming benchmarks. The RTX 3070 graphics card and Ryzen 5 5600X are a pretty legendary combination at this point and for very good reason.

Performance aside, one super important factor with any build is how it looks …right?! This build is a bit of a stunner if I do say so myself, and below is a gallery of some of the awesome stills we pulled from this system – take a look!
