AMD’s new RX 6800 graphics card sits on the mainstream end of their GPU return, and we’ve been impressed by its performance outside of Ray Tracing & DLSS environments. That can only mean one thing, it’s time to get an RX 6800 PC Build going!
With impressive frame rates, a new cooler design and an attractive RRP, this is a build primed for 1080p and 1440p gaming, at high frames rates, for 2021 & beyond!
Below we’ll be running through all of the parts we chose, alongside performance figures and, of course, extensive performance figures so we can see how well this build performs!
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
When it comes to buying a CPU in 2021, there are a plethora of options on the market – ranging from AMD’s 3000 series, to their new 5000 range. Intel also have an updated CPU lineup on the horizon, in the form of 11th gen. For this build, AMD’s latest 5600X is a super fast CPU, with some great single threaded performance, with 6 cores and 12 threads to back up its multi tasking credentials, too.
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800
Buying a GPU in 2021 is perhaps the trickiest bit of building a PC, at the time of writing the crypto-boom has caused huge availability issues, but if you can find a GPU, this is a great shout.
While it lacks the DLSS functionality of an Nvidia card like the 3070, and its Ray Tracing abilities aren’t as far ahead, it is a great card for straight rasterization. If it’s straight FPS you’re worried about – this GPU at the right price is a great shout.

RAM: XPG Spectrix D60G 16GB 3600MHz
Thankfully one component which is easy to choose in 2021 – you want a 16GB of 32GB kit with good reviews and clock speeds of around 3600MHz if you’re building an AMD system. Other than that, go with what suits your build aesthetic – this RGB kit from XPG is a great choice!
We love XPG’s RGB Ram offerings, and this D60G kit is no exception!
SSD/Storage: ADATA Spectrix S20 1TB
It’s not just RAM modules that Adata’s gaming brand, XPG, does well – they also do some really nice M.2 drives! This S20 is one of their latest additions, and features some rather dashing and easily customisable RGB up top.
Plus, the fast NVMe speeds of this drive are a plus and ensure speedy PC and game loading times!
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro
On the motherboard front, B550 is a really good shout if you’re not looking to break the bank! This board from Gigabyte has all of the features most people will be after, 4 RAM dimms, M.2 support and a solid choice of ports on the rear IO. All in all, a great board in a form factor that fits nicely within our case.
Case: Cooler Master MB520 ARGB
When it comes to the case choice for any build, there are a few factors to keep in mind – aesthetics, airflow and features. This case doesn’t feature a mesh panel, but does have more than adequate air flow with 4 included 120mm fans, more than most chassis at this price point. Plus, the acrylic front looks great with the RGB shining through, and support for water-cooling, super long GPUs and more means the MB520 is a great choice for a build of this calibre.

PSU: Cooler Master MWE650 Gold v2
The Cooler Master MWE650 Gold is a great choice for any system with this sort of power requirement – 650W is a nice amount for todays build that gives you adequate headroom, without going overboard. The 80+ Gold certification also means it’s one of the most efficient 650W units on the market, while a fully modular interface helps you with cable management, by only plugging in the cables your system needs.
Performance & Benchmarking
The most important part of any system has to be its performance… that’s why you’re building yourself a flashy new Gaming PC, right?! Either way, the 6800 stretches its muscles at both 1080p and 1440p below, providing some great rasterization numbers. The lack of DLSS does hurt the 6800 against the more affordable RTX 3070, but with rival AMD tech on the way soon, that should become somewhat less of an issue.
